Regaining control.....maybe.....we shall see.......
EDGC NEWS 10/07/07
For those of you that took the time to register for the EDGC forum, thank
you. Unfortunately due to the hundreds of spam registrations and my
inability to stop them and the huge hassle of deleting them, I've taken the
forum down until I learn how to keep spamming from ruining the board. You
can still post messages on the yahoo EDGC group, and yes it does require you
to register and create a yahoo id. But, it helps keep the spamming to a
minimum.!

Sorry for the vacation
from the EDGC news updates. The Eugene Celebration was held in early
September and was a success thanks to the Oregon Series staff, Tom Embree as
TD and his staff of volunteers and all the sponsors of the event. As many of
you know the tournament was held at Dexter and the Oakway Golf Course.
Oakway Golf Course in Eugene is going to start offering disc golf on the
back 9 of their course. 18 baskets have been delivered and are waiting to be
planted. Thanks to all the people involved in getting this started! Contact

A big thanks to the
12 people that showed up for the work party today at Dexter Disc Golf
Course. All you Dexter Dogs that didn't show up owe a pat on the back to:
Bro Bob, DR, JJ, Gene, the Two Ben's, Andy, Kevin, Rebecca, Bryce, and
Ralph. All the bark dust in the parking lot was spread on tee's and path's.
Stairs were improved. The pile of rough bark chips on hole 8 was spread on
tee's and paths. A new path on the right side of the fairway on hole 17 was
created. It should help when it rains. Stick to the trails! It's part of the
low impact we are trying to achieve at Dexter. Once again thanks to all that
showed up!

JJ and Gene have
written up a summary of the last EDGC meeting. It details what we want to
accomplish at the next work party. Thanks guys!
At the May 8th meeting the club discussed the Northwest Open (huge success,
over $10K in totals value). Some registration problems with titledisc were
discussed. Quicker cut off of titledisc registrations as tournament starts
filling seems to be the solution. Tentative plans for another GNO in spring
2008 were brought up. No dates yet.
Brief discussion of Eugene Disc Golf Celebration in September. Needs misc.
use permit. Also camping will be allowed by the lake again, but no cars on
the lawns.
An update on Lynx Hollow reported, nothing new - still waiting on Oregon
Dept. Fish and Wildlife turtle assessment. Apparently turtles move slow, so
the study takes time.
Then we discussed some maintenance items at Dexter that need to be
addressed. A work party is scheduled for Saturday May 19th at 8:30. Here are
the items that wed like to get done.
Hole 3 Improve tee pad drainage. (Might not be addressed during this work
party.) General step maintenance (leveling and adding bark dust/gravel).
Hole 4 Bark dust around tee.
Hole 7 Remove downed tree
Hole 9 Maintain stairs and place bark/gravel on the path to 10.
Hole 10 Build area around tee pad. General stair maintenance.
Hole 11 Fix bent pin. Place bark around pad.
Hole 12 Tee pad maintenance.
Hole 14 Remove pallets and trail maintenance.
Hole 15 More bark on the path.
Hole 17 Will need a trail built, but this wont be part of this work
party.
If youre looking for a chance to give back to this sport, bring your
shovels, wheel barrows, rakes, and gloves out to Dexter on the 19th.
If you're interested in something new on the website, check out the
Links Nexus page and click on the EDGC logo
in the center of the page. Some new t-shirt possibilities are available with a club logo through
Cafe Press. The EDGC makes a
few dollars a shirt and is out nothing. Plus the artwork was donated! Surely
a Win - Worn - Win situation.

The next EDGC meeting is
set for June 5, 2007 6:30AM at Bro Bob Hager's house.
The EDGC will be having a work party at Dexter Disc Golf Course on Saturday
May 19, 2007. Please come out and help. Course improvements and maintenance
are the planned activities. Gravel and bark dust spreading, caps for the
unused alt. pin locations, and some improvements to several staircases.
Bring wheelbarrows, shovels, gloves, and clippers. We hope to get started
around 9 AM. See you there.
Planning for the Eugene Disc Golf Celebration Tournament in September is
under way. If you'd like to get involved in the biggest local disc golf
event of the year, contact TD Tom Embree or any EDGC member. Or send a
message to:
webroller@eugenediscgolfclub.com
The more people that help the bigger and better the Celebration!

Just a quick note before
the club meeting tonight. I added a link to some information regarding
Laurelwood
Golf Course. As you may have heard the City of Eugene is considering adding
disc golf to Laurelwood. This would be a great addition to the Eugene area.
If you have any interest in helping or just want to know what's up, check out the link below.
Laurelwood update!
EDGC NEWS 5/5/07
Hope you like the new
look. As we become more proficient building webpage's you should see more
interesting things on our site. Just a reminder that there is an EDGC
meeting on Tuesday 5/8 at 6:30PM. Brother Bob Hager will host the meeting at
his home located on 1175 Almaden St. in Eugene. Head west on W11th street
till you get to Almaden and take a left heading south till you get to his
house about 1/2 block from your turn and on the left side of the street.
The new EDGC message forum is up and working. At least I think it is, try
registering and posting a message, and if you can't let me know.

Hello again! Yes our
website is up and slowly running again. Thanks for checking it out. We have
been absent for a year now after our old pages were destroyed by a web
hacking vandal. It was very discouraging. But things should be better than
before. We will have email, a discussion forum, online shopping, and
pictures from all over the disc golfing world. There is a rumor that the advice columnist from our old newsletter will be back answering disc golfing
questions. Those of you that remember should look for the "Ask Biff" page
link as soon as he agrees to help us poor golfers improve our games. The
goal of the EDGC is to make these pages fun and informative, and a place to
find out all about Disc Golf in the Eugene, Springfield and Southern
Willamette Valley area. The only thing we ask is patience while we get the
site looking the way we want. Check back often as things will be changing
fast. Thanks for stopping by!
